Muslims for a Better America (MBA) is a 501 c (3) non-profit that was created in response to the Missouri Muslim community’s calls for a centralized organization that seeks to shift perceptions about the community and to engage it with the institutions that shape their every day lives.
MBA's mission is two-fold:
- To educate the Muslim community on the civic processes that impact their daily lives
- To develop more opportunities for increased community engagement
Over 100,000 Muslims live in Missouri, a silently impactful minority. MBA works to provide a unified voice for this community by putting Muslims in the forefront of civic life. Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, this unified voice is represented through our 11 member Board of Directors which consists of 3 Executive Council members and 2 members from each region of the Metropolitan area. This ensures diversity in the viewpoints that direct the mission of the organization.
One of our major goals is to normalize the presence of Muslims in American life – to get us a seat at the table. To do so, we believe that Muslims must begin to increase their interaction within their communities. To really institute change for the betterment of the entire community, MBA will work from within the civic process.
We will educate and energize the Muslim community to take back control of the narrative and provide the infrastructure to represent Muslim-Americans for generations to come.
